πŸ‘ When was the last time you felt brave enough to try something new? πŸ‘

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

I am Sproo the Sheep, professional wanderer of soft hills and finder of unusually good days. This morning the grass tasted like cool green apples kissed by sunlight, which is how I knew something excellent was about to happen. I followed that feeling over a ridge where the breeze whispered secrets through my wool, light and ticklish, like it was trying to convince me to be just a little more curious than usual. That is the trick, you know. The world opens up when you stop overthinking and start nibbling at the edges of adventure.

So I did what I always do when something feels right. I stepped forward. And then another step. Before long I had discovered a place that felt like it had been waiting just for me, calm, bright, and full of possibility. That is what I bring with me wherever I go, a reminder that you do not need to have everything figured out to enjoy something wonderful. You just need to say yes to the moment and let a little joy follow you home.

Tell me, if you spent a day wandering with me, what would you be brave enough to discover?

πŸ”₯ Does Your Dog Also Think The Smoke Detector Is Pure Evil? πŸ”₯

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

Our dog Scout knew the Evil Smoke Detector was not to be trusted. By day, it sat silently on the ceiling pretending to be “helpful,” but every night, just as the house became warm and cozy with the smell of popcorn, blankets, and late night treats, it would awaken with an unholy *CHIRP.* Scout would launch off the couch like a furry missile while the detector whispered things like “low battery” in a voice that sounded suspiciously proud of itself. You changed the battery three times. The Evil Smoke Detector only grew stronger. At one point, Scout hid inside a laundry basket and wore it around the house like emotional support armor.

Meanwhile, other dog owners seemed to live peaceful, civilized lives with calm pets and normal ceilings. But not you. No, your home had become a psychological battlefield ruled by a screaming plastic demon circle that yelled “FIRE!” every time someone slightly overcooked garlic bread. Sweat rolled down your face in the summer heat as Scout barked heroically at the ceiling, convinced she alone stood between civilization and total destruction.

So... has your smoke detector already broken your spirit, or are you still pretending you are in control?

🍾πŸ₯‚ Let’s Make 2026 a Beautiful Year Together! πŸ₯‚πŸΎ

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

🍾πŸ₯‚ Let's make 2026 a beautiful year! πŸ₯‚πŸΎ

We are standing at the edge of something new, and I wanted to pause with you for a moment before we step forward together.

The world can feel loud, rushed, and heavy at times. It is easy to carry more than we should, to scroll past what matters, or to lose touch with what feels honest and nourishing. Most of us sense it when something feels off, even if we cannot name it right away. When we ignore that feeling, we drift further from ourselves and from one another.

What has helped me is slowing down and choosing intention over noise. Asking simple questions. What do I want to grow? What do I want to protect? What kind of beauty feels true right now? Small moments of reflection have a way of opening doors we did not realize were closed.

When we make space for that kind of attention, good things happen. We feel steadier. More curious. More connected. The future stops feeling abstract and starts feeling like something we are shaping together. That is where creativity lives and where community strengthens.

As we look ahead, I keep thinking about how much lighter things feel when we allow ourselves a little grace and a little curiosity about what comes next.

I am grateful you are here with me. Truly. Sharing this moment, this pause, and this hope makes what comes next feel lighter and more meaningful. There is a lot ahead of us, and I am glad we are moving toward it together.

Your Friend,
Mike Kraus

My Story
Hi, I’m Mike the artist of Mike Kraus Art Inc.

I’ve been making art since I could hold a crayon. As a kid, I’d fill every notebook, homework margin, and scrap of paper with doodles. I sold my first artwork in junior high, sketching in class and handing off pieces between periods. That early love for making things never faded. I followed it all the way to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and eventually, I decided to stop treating art as a side hustle and make it my life’s work.

My paintings are full of energy, motion, and saturated color. I’m drawn to bold shapes and organic lines—forms that feel alive. I create with the hope that my work brings something beautiful and uplifting into someone’s day. Whether it’s a spark of joy, a moment of calm, or just a splash of color that makes you pause—I want my art to connect with something real.

Now, I’m lucky enough to paint full-time, with collectors across the U.S. and in dozens of countries around the world. But more than anything, I still feel like that kid with a crayon, excited to create. I’m grateful to share this journey with you—and I hope you find something in my work that makes your world a little brighter.

Some mornings hum like a secret meant only for me, quiet and golden at the edges. I wake without alarms or tiny demands, just the soft rhythm of my own choosing. The air feels lighter, almost tender, as if the world remembers to breathe with me. I move through the day with unhurried hands, tracing joy in small rituals: reading what I please, wandering where I wish, painting what I dream. My world stays whole, uncluttered, and entirely mine, and I carry that freedom like sunlight in my pocket.

When was the last time you felt the sweet hush of a day that belonged only to you?

This painting would look best in a space that is light red, orange, yellow, dark green, blue, purple, black, white, beige, gray, or wood.

There is something magical about gathering around the table for an evening of games, where the roll of the dice can make us cheer or groan in unison. The room fills with laughter when a surprise twist changes everything, and even the most serious faces crack into smiles. By the end of the night, it never really matters who takes the win because what lingers is the joy of time well spent together.

What board game always brings the most fun to your family nights?

Every morning, I’m the one making coffee. But Scout has been running her own cafΓ©. She’s posted up at the window seat, tongue out, tail wagging, waiting for her usual order: a Barkaccino with extra froth. And she’s far too invested in catching up on the news — which features all the latest chipmunk activities. It’s a silly little scene from our living room, but also a reminder of what “home” feels like: warm, funny, a little chaotic, and better with coffee (and pets).

Who in your household is really running the morning routine—you, or your furry family member?

🍾πŸ₯‚ Together We Will Make 2025 Beautiful! πŸ₯‚πŸΎ

Brightscapes: The Way To Beauty

🍾πŸ₯‚ Together we will make 2025 beautiful! πŸ₯‚πŸΎ

We will oppose ugliness in all of its forms.  To focus on our needs and reduce stress.  We'll be courageous.  And we will be our best selves.

What is ugly to me?  Does something cause me anxiety?  What is my community and who are they really?  What do I avoid?  And who do I want to be by 2026?

Your Friend,
Mike Kraus

My Story
I’m Mike, the Artist of Mike Kraus Art Inc.

I’ve been making art since I was old enough to hold a crayon. I’d fill countless sketchbooks with drawings, cover school assignments with doodles, and publish magazines and print flyers for my friend’s bands. And then, I became an adult... The demands of food and rent seemed to require a “serious job.” For years, I languished in a cubicle performing meaningless tasks for a meager salary.

Until one day, my boss insulted me. After years of being yelled at, micromanaged, and “thrown under the bus” for their incompetence; I had enough. I quit my career and took another part-time job as a cashier of a big-box store because it had the least amount of responsibility. The rest of my time I spent painting. After several months, I had to quit this low-wage job too because it was getting in the way of my art business.

I decided to be a full-time professional artist. I needed the time to paint, collaborate with my patrons and galleries, and maintain my studio. Since then, I’ve sold thousands of paintings that are displayed in nearly every state and dozens of countries. I’m very fortunate to have a career dedicated to adding more beauty to the world. And I hope to share that experience with you.

I follow the winding path not knowing where I'll end up.  The trees rustle in the breeze stirring up the aromas of the forest.  A freshness one always has to remind themselves of in civilization.  The light refracts in strange ways at this time.  It's when the surreal becomes the real.

Let's make this a beautiful holiday season!  Are you a part of a community and who are they really?

This piece would look best in a small space that is red, orange, yellow, dark blue, purple, white, black, grey, beige, or wood.
