The weekend before my birthday, my wife and I will stop by one of the many orchards near our home in upstate New York.  Some of them are like carnivals with bounce houses, hay rides, and petting zoos.  Others are simply apple farms that just grow apples.  We'll roam the grounds selecting a variety to bake into pies, cakes, and other treats.  And, with any luck, it will keep the doctor away...

This painting would look best in a space that is red, yellow, orange, blue, purple, black, white, grey, beige, or wood

The sun is trying to break through the clouds on an early Sunday morning.  Our feet crunch on the loose gravel on the road to the local diner.  Our mouths salivate as we talked excitedly about breakfast.  The French Toast may with homemade bread, the perfect amount of cinnamon, and their special maple syrup.  All of it coming together beautifully with a little honey butter.

This painting would look best in a space that is dark red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, purple, light beige, or natural wood.

The morning sun is gently rising through the large picture window.  I toss around my sleeping bag on the living room floor.  The smell of breakfast cooking on the stove.  Grandpa's making pancakes and syrup.  One of my memories of him.

This painting would look best in a space that is red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, purple, white, or beige.

After a long day of work in the Loop, I take the "L" train home.  It's so much better reading a book on public transit than fighting road rage in a traffic jam.  And today I'm just watching all the buildings pass by.  The brown line runs at street level in the alleys after the Western stop.  The alleys are somehow beautifully utilitarian.

This painting would look best in a space that is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, beige, or wood
